After my first yarn adventures I was hooked and wanted to find a long – term project to work on. While searching for ideas I stumbled upon this sunburst granny square tutorial by Bella Coco and fell in love. I knew I wanted to make a blanket for my bed that would be mostly blue (I love blue), I just needed to figure out the rest of the colors. That took some time but I’m quite happy with the yarn I chose – Cream, Pink, Lilac and Blue Stylecraft Baby DK from Loveknitting.com. Their service is superb and the yarn itself is lovely and soft.
The pattern is not difficult overall, but the second rows were giving me hell every time until I realized I had to pull the yarn up a lot and keep it very loose, otherwise my hook would get stuck every time. It was smooth sailing after that. 🙂
Sadly I don’t have much time to work on my blanket and it’s probably going to take a long time. I want it to be about 200×200 cm which means I need to make roughly 400 squares! Currently I have 20 finished ones and 16 first rows. Oh my…I think the size is a bit too ambitious but I’m determined to stick with it!
This is how the squares should look like when attached. I really like the colors.

Those are lovely colors

Love the colours you’ve used, and the design is beautiful! Good luck with your blanket – I’m sure you can finish it in time!

Thanks! Maybe I’ll be able to, if I figure out how to deal with the desire to start a bunch of other projects too. 🙂
